It’s not too late to participate in C.A.N.S. Around The Oval 2020!  Let’s do what we CAN to relieve food insecurity for fellow Rams and our local Northern Colorado neighbors this fall.  Join us Wednesday, September 16 through Friday, October 16, 2020, to “CANtribute” to this 34-year-old tradition.

 C.A.N.S. Around the Oval is a CSU tradition geared toward raising awareness about food insecurity and collecting donations for the Food Bank for Larimer County. The food bank not only serves the county at-large but our local campus community via the Rams Against Hunger program.  In 2019, this program evolved into a fund and food drive asking donors for C.A.N.S. “cash and nutritious staples” (including online monetary donations and healthy non-perishable food items) to enhance the quality and quantity of food to better meet community needs.  Participants may CANtribute in various ways including donating, volunteering, and using art and social media to spread awareness, in addition to educating themselves and others about the cause.  CANtributions may come through solo acts of kindness and/or collective team efforts as part of our Friendly-Competition amongst CSU Departments, CSU Student Groups, Community Organizations, and Local Schools.  #TogetherWeCANS2020

We are asking the Ram Community and our local Northern Colorado neighbors to help spread the word via your own communications within your own communities; and to also CANtribute, if able/interested.  We believe we can reach our “CANpaign Goals” this year with the added creativity and collaboration – though in virtual and physically distanced ways.

Together, let’s try to:

• Raise at least $34,000 online (in honor of the 34^th year, which would equate to 78,000 meals the Food Bank for Larimer County can provide)
• Collect at least 8,000 pounds of food (to provide at least one week’s worth of distribution at CSU’s Mobile Food Pantry)

AND, let’s do so by World Food Week: October 12 – 16, to:

• Donate food in-person on designated days/times/locations (but NOT at The Oval)
• Donate online no later than Friday, October 16 by 5:00 p.m.
